Bumper Repair in Milpitas, CA
Cracked, dented, or scuffed bumper repair and replacement with factory-matched paint.
Bumper Repair & Replacement — More Than Meets the Eye
A modern bumper is a plastic cover over a system: an energy absorber, a steel or aluminum reinforcement bar, brackets, grilles, and — on most newer cars — parking sensors, cameras, and radar units. A tap that leaves a scuff on the cover can bend what's behind it, and a crack that looks minor can mean broken mounting tabs that won't hold the cover straight again. We inspect the whole system, not just the surface, so the repair you pay for is the repair your car actually needs.
When the cover is scuffed, lightly cracked, or pushed in, we repair it: the plastic is reshaped, cracks are welded and reinforced from behind, and the surface is refinished. When the cover is torn, the tabs are gone, or the damage reaches the structure behind it, replacement is the right call. Either way, the cover comes off the car for the work — that's the only way to see everything and refinish it properly.
Our Bumper Repair Process
The cover always comes off. That's how hidden damage gets found — and fixed — the first time.
Estimate & Photos
Text photos to 408-935-0210 or use our free estimate form. We flag likely hidden damage up front, so the first number you hear accounts for what's probably behind the cover.
Teardown & Inspection
The cover comes off and we inspect the absorber, reinforcement, brackets, and sensors. Anything we find is photographed and documented — for you, and for your insurer if it's a claim.
Repair or Replace
Repairable covers are plastic-welded, reshaped, and refinished. Damaged covers are replaced and painted to match. Parts behind the cover are repaired or replaced to restore the crash structure.
Refinish, Calibrate & QC
Paint is computer-matched and sprayed in our booth, then blended so the bumper matches the fenders and hood. If sensors or cameras were disturbed, they're recalibrated in-house before a final quality check.
What Affects the Cost of Bumper Repair
Bumper cost turns on a handful of factors. Repair versus replacement is the big one — a repairable scuff takes a fraction of the labor of fitting and painting a new cover. The cover itself varies widely by vehicle, and luxury and EV covers carry more hardware. Paint matters too: pearl and tri-coat colors take extra stages and blending. Then there's what's behind the cover — a crushed absorber or bent reinforcement adds parts and time, and sensor-equipped bumpers may need calibration after reassembly. Timelines follow the same factors: most bumper jobs are with us one to three days, longer if parts have to be ordered or hidden damage expands the job. Insurance Claims and the Crown Standard
Bumper damage is the most common collision claim there is, and we work with all insurance companies on them every week. We photograph hidden damage as it's found and file supplements with documentation, so the claim covers the real repair — not just the part of it that showed from outside. If you're not sure whether to file, read our Insurance Claims Guide — or just ask us. For minor scuffs, paying out of pocket is sometimes the smarter move, and we'll say so.

Bumper Repair — FAQ
Should I repair or replace my bumper?
If the damage is cosmetic — scuffs, small cracks, minor dents — repair is cheaper and faster. If the bumper is torn, has large cracks, or the mounting tabs are broken, replacement is safer. We'll give you an honest assessment.
How long does bumper repair take?
Most bumper repairs take 1-3 days including paint and cure time. We'll give you an exact timeline with your free estimate.
Will the paint match?
Yes. We use computerized color matching and spray in a professional booth, so the bumper blends seamlessly with the rest of your car.
Can there be damage behind the bumper that I can't see?
Yes, and it's common. Behind the plastic cover sits a foam or plastic energy absorber and a reinforcement bar, plus brackets and sensors. A hit that barely marks the cover can crush the absorber or bend the bar. That's why we remove the cover and inspect what's behind it before we finalize any estimate — guessing wrong helps nobody.
My bumper has parking sensors and a camera. Can you still repair it?
Yes. We remove and reinstall sensors and cameras carefully, check their function after reassembly, and recalibrate driver-assistance systems in-house when the manufacturer requires it. A bumper job isn't finished until the systems that live in it are verified working.
Will insurance cover bumper repair?
Usually, yes — bumper damage from a collision is one of the most standard claims there is, and we work with all insurance companies. We document everything, including hidden damage found at teardown, and file supplements so the claim covers the complete repair. If the damage is minor, we'll also tell you honestly if paying out of pocket makes more sense than filing.
How much does bumper repair cost?
It depends on which factors your car brings: whether the cover can be repaired or must be replaced, the cost of the cover and hardware for your vehicle, the paint type — pearl and tri-coat finishes take extra stages — and whether there's hidden damage or calibration work behind the cover. Our estimates are free: text photos to 408-935-0210 and we'll price your actual bumper, not a generic one.
